CheckFree Next Upgrade

For a limited period of time users on desktop devices will be able to toggle between the old bill pay, CheckFree RXP, and the new Bill Pay, CheckFree Next, to familiarize themselves with the new screens.

Overview

CheckFree Next is a fully responsive, mobile-first solution, that provides a simple, intuitive, and engaging experience for bill pay users on all of their devices, while supporting seamless integration with online and mobile banking applications and apps.

The upgraded bill pay enables you to accomplish payment-related tasks more easily and efficiently by:

• Presenting bills based on your payment activity—making it easier to access active, recently paid billers—and highlighting unpaid bills and reminders.
• Helping you find existing billers quickly though the search feature and prompting you to add a new biller when a search does not return a result.
• Highlighting eBill and Autopay at appropriate points in different task flows to encourage engagement.
• Allowing you to make multiple payments at once on larger screens/devices.
• Including all the information and actions available for a biller on one screen (Biller details), which you can access by selecting the desired biller throughout the application.

Upgrade Experience

The transition from CheckFree RXP to CheckFree Next is designed to be seamless and straightforward, so you can continue to manage your bill pay and perform payment-related tasks as well as you have in the past.

• Welcome screens are displayed under certain conditions to greet both new and existing users, providing you with helpful information, and getting you started with the CheckFree Next experience.
• All your current billers, as well as the payment history associated with those billers, will remain available in CheckFree Next.
• Payments that are currently being processed or are scheduled for future payment will remain unchanged.
• Autopay settings for eBills and recurring payments will remain in place.
• You will have access to—and will be able to organize in groups—all the billers you added in CheckFree RXP.

Features Available in CheckFree Next

• Add, View, and Edit Billers—You can add, view, and edit billers.
• Make Single and Multiple Payments—You can make a single payment and, for desktop and tablet users, several payments at the same time.
• Activate, View, Pay, and Manage eBills—You can activate eBill-eligible billers and view, pay, or manage eBills received.
• Set Up Autopay for eBills and for Recurring Payments—You can add and manage eBill and recurring-payment Autopay plans.
• Add Reminders—To help you manage your payments, email reminder options are presented when setting up eBills and Autopay. You also can set up personal (manual) reminders, which will show in the PAY BILLS screen under Upcoming bills (for example, Due Sep 24).
• View and Manage Payment Activity—You can view and manage your payment activity.
• View Biller Categories—You can view a category assigned to a biller.
• Add Groups, Assign Billers to Groups, and Manage Groups—You can set up biller groups, assign billers to those groups, and manage biller groups.
• Send Payment Inquiries—You can send a payment inquiry to Customer Service regarding a processed payment.
• Download Activity Data—You can download activity data in CSV format and have the option to source the download from multiple accounts. The formatting of the download has changed for CheckFree Next (for example, the columns are sorted differently from how they were sorted in the current bill pay). Draft check numbers, which are not included with the initial release of CheckFree Next, are slated for inclusion in a future release.

Features Not Supported in CheckFree Next

The following features have been removed because they are being replaced with improved functionality, are no longer relevant, or are very rarely used.

• View and Manage Profile/View and Manage Accounts—Some users were able to view and manage profile and account information.  With CheckFree Next, you do not have access to that information and will need to contact the bank to make changes.
• Activate several eBills at a time through the eBill Multiple Activation and Quick eBill Activation features—With CheckFree Next, you can activate eBills one at a time through a simple, streamlined activation process.
• Assign a Category to a Biller—Billers previously assigned to a category—including those assigned to custom categories created by you—will remain in that category after the upgrade. In CheckFree Next, a biller is assigned automatically to a predefined category when it is added. Also in CheckFree Next, new custom categories cannot be created; billers cannot be assigned to a custom category; and searching for and filtering on categories is not supported.
• Apply Biller Updates to Pending Payments—In CheckFree RXP when you made an update to a biller—for example, to change the account used to pay the biller—and there was a pending payment to that biller, you were presented with the option to apply the change to the pending payment. With CheckFree Next, when you make an update to a biller for which a payment is pending, the change is applied automatically to the pending payment.
• Help Center—The Help Center is not carried over to CheckFree Next.
• File a Bill Reason Option—In CheckFree RXP you could specify a reason when filing (or marking as paid) a bill and that action and the reason specified were listed in the History. In CheckFree Next, however, you are not presented with a reason option when they select Mark as paid for a bill and that action is listed on the BILLER DETAILS screen.
• Turn Off Logos and Icons—CheckFree RXP included the Logo & Icon Display option, which enabled you to turn off (or turn on) the small visual elements (logos and icons) associated with billers. This option is not carried over to CheckFree Next.
